CSR's efforts in remote sensing have revolved around the development of advanced image processing algorithms which can be applied to satellite and aerial data from a variety of sensors in order to better understand changes affecting the planet. A majority of these algorithms have focused on characterizing and modeling the spectral, spatial and/or temporal features present in the data sets. By better understanding the statistical properties associated with different land cover types, efforts to classify data sets as well as to understand environmental changes that occur over time can be more successful.
