Dr. Lightsey specializes in the dynamics and control of space vehicles using avionics sensors such as the Global Positioning System for navigation and attitude determination. His current activities focus on adaptations of GPS receivers for specialized spacecraft uses, such as relative navigation, attitude determination, and meteorological sensing.
