The GRACE Science Team meeting will be a mix of moderated discussions on specific themes, and contributed presentations on various subjects. The format of the moderated sessions is the responsibility of the respective conveners. The contributed abstracts will be organized by subject, and delivered as either oral or poster presentations. Guidelines for contributed oral presentations and posters are given below.

The meeting will open with a brief Project Status session, which consists of updates on the mission status, and includes future science plans, the flight segment technical status, and status and information on the data releases from the GRACE Science Data System.

Abstracts are solicited from the Science Team members and other attendees for presentations in the following areas: Special Topics; and Geophysics & Climate Science (see below for further details). Authors may submit more than one abstract. Shortly after the submission deadline, the Meeting Program will be finalized and announced.

During the abstract submission process

  • All information must be entered before hitting the SUBMIT button - you cannot save information and return later to complete the submission.
  • Mandatory information includes the author(s) names, presenter's name, paper title, abstract and presenter's email address. The submission may not include any special characters or symbols.

Optionally, the GRACE Principal Investigators are asked to submit their investigation title, and some text on the present status and future plans for their respective investigations. You may choose to rewrite you presentation abstract if it fits the purpose. Please use the "For PI Submissions" button at the bottom of this page.

Optional, if you have special requirements or suggestions for new data product definition, or on product accuracy, resolution or latency, we invite you to upload a 2-page (maximum) summary as a text or PDF file (preferred). You can use the Upload Special Request button, located at the foot of this page.


A. GRACE Geodesy:

    A.1 Analysis Techniques:For presentations on methods, algorithms and results from GRACE data analysis and error assessments; providing insights into spatio-temporal signal content; including diverse methods of error reduction.

    A.2 GRACE-Follow On: Addresses the progress towards the development of science rationale and options for continuing the GRACE mass-flux data record into the future.

    A.3 - Theme: GRACE & Gravimetric Reference Systems

B. Geophysics & Climate Science Applications: For each of the following topics, abstracts are solicited that report progress or new applications of GRACE data products to each science area.

    B.1 Multidisciplinary Programs: Solicits presentations describing the science goals or progress within multi-disciplinary, and multi-institutional or multi-national science application programs, with either global or regional scope - whose one important element is the GRACE dataset. This session can be viewed as a forum for showcasing progress, as well as for engaging wider community involvement.

    B.2 Solid Earth Sciences:

      B.2.a - Theme: Understanding GIA

      B.2.b - Studies of the Earth's crustal structure, lithospheric and mantle properties; advances in the modeling and understanding of the Great Andaman/Sumatra Earthquake or other seismic events; as well as other related topics.

    B.3 Cryosphere:

      B.3.a - Theme: Changes of Greenland Cryosphere

      B.3.b - The Cryosphere: This session will address the measurements of change in the Earth's ice sheets, at all spatio-temporal scales; the science advancements and open questions in the interpretation of these GRACE results; current uncertainties; as well fusion/cross-validation of GRACE data with other sensors and models.

    B.4 Oceanography:

      B.4.a - Theme: GRACE & the Arctic

      B.4.b - Theme: Sea Level Workshop

      B.4.c - Theme: GRACE & Oceanobs '09

      B.4.d - Ocean Processes & Validation: This session addresses advances in the validation and oceanographic applications of GRACE data.

    B.5 Hydrology:

      B.5.a - Theme: 2nd Hydrology Workshop

      B.5.b - Papers are solicited on advances in hydrological applications of GRACE data products, including new developments in interpretation and model assimilation. Papers on combination of GRACE-based hydrology with other data, in order to extend the time series and enhance its value in addressing climatological questions, are also encouraged.

    B.6 Other (non-Gravity) GRACE Applications: Papers are solicited on studies of the GRACE Radio Occultation data; Atmospheric Density and Accelerometry; and other science applications of GRACE data un-related to the gravity fields.


Oral Presentations:

    A maximum of 15 minutes, including time for questions, is allowed. Overhead (transparency) and screen (beamer) projection will be available. Your presentation must be uploaded prior to the last meeting break before your scheduled talk. Presenters will not be allowed to connect their own laptops or their flash drives at the time of their talks.

Poster Presentations:

    Posters may be a maximum of 60 inches wide and 40 inches tall. Supplies for mounting posters to boards will be available.
